Location: Gandakha, District Usta Mohammad, Balochistan
Project Description:
In Gandakha, part of District Usta Mohammad in Balochistan, many families face chronic food insecurity, which intensifies during Ramadan when food prices rise and expectations around shared meals increase. Recognising this, UKMAP and CDRS undertook a targeted ration pack distribution ahead of Ramadan 2024.
Comprehensive ration packs, designed to meet the dietary and cultural needs of local families, were distributed to the most vulnerable households. The selection process prioritised those with the least income and the greatest dependency, including families with many children, older people, and people with disabilities.
Beneficiaries: 75 families
Impact:
The initiative enabled 75 families to observe Ramadan with dignity, ensuring that they could break their fasts and begin their days with adequate nourishment. It reduced the psychological burden of food insecurity and helped maintain social and spiritual practices central to community life during the holy month.
