Building on ongoing work in Jaffarabad District, UKMAP and CDRS carried out a Ramadan food pack distribution in Bagtel to address local food insecurity ahead of Ramadan 2024. Families in Bagtel face similar economic and social challenges to those across the wider district, with limited employment opportunities and rising costs of living.
Ration packs containing essential food items were distributed to carefully selected households facing severe hardship. The timing of the distribution enabled families to plan for Ramadan and reduced the need for last-minute borrowing or debt to afford food.
Beneficiaries: 75 families
Impact:
The distribution allowed 75 families to approach Ramadan with a sense of security and dignity, knowing they would have sufficient food throughout the fasting period. It eased financial pressure on already stretched households and supported the continuation of cultural and religious practices that strengthen community bonds.
